Quiet times

Happy New Year to you and your family 💕

January marks the start of what we hope to be a great year for our Cromane property. As the heavy rains have impacted our timeline for the outside works to commence, we have been focusing on other things like paperwork. As the nursery will be focusing on native trees grown from seed for use in schemes such as the Native Tree Area scheme, getting permission to collect said seed is important. We want to grow trees that come from strong stock and can be traced back. This is especially important for trees such as our Irish Oak.

We ourselves have applied for the Native Tree Area scheme and when trying to order the trees from certified growers in Ireland it became immediately obvious that there is a discrepancy in the Irish supply and demand for these trees. With the new NTA scheme and the Acres scheme demand for native Irish trees being up, we are hoping to be able to supply trees within the next 3 years to hopefully eleviate some of the growing pains we are seeing.
